THE DUMMY GARDENER

You may not be a dummy gardener, but where I went to school they didnt offer "Gardening for Dummies" 101. I learned how to garden by trial and error, and believe me I tortured & ruined the lives of many a plant.

If you are a dummy gardener like me, this site will be very useful to you. You can access gardening information to cover most anything you would like to grow. Very few people, if any, know everything there is to know about gardening. Even a seasoned gardener can gain useful tips and ideas from the dummy gardener site.

My Mom is certainly not a dummy gardener. She has what we call a really green thumb. Anything she wants to grow, she can. I grew up on the Texas coast and watched Mom’s success at growing beautiful  plants. She grows roses, gigantic elephant ears, hibiscus plants as tall as the house, christmas cactus that bloomed year round, and a wide variety of other annual and perennial plants. Her yard is a proverbial tropical garden. She is even successful at growing vegetable gardens, and house plants. Nope, my Mom is not a dummy gardener.

And then here I am, the true dummy gardener. Evidently all I was exposed to while growing up just didn’t soak in, not even the basic gardening knowledge. For years the only things I could grow were cucumbers and airplane plants. Probably because grass & weeds got tall enough to protect the cucumber patch and my daughter watered the airplane plants. I, the dummy gardener, generally forgot to water them. Then one day I was at work trying to read a computer manual about Windows, and frankly, having a tough time understanding it. A co-worker noticed I was at my wits' end and brought me a book called Windows for Dummies. This book really was easy to understand compared to the factory manual. It didn’t take this novice gardener long before I went looking for a Gardening for Dummies book. I still consider myself a dummy gardener but since then, and because of the knowledge I gained from the book I have been a lot more successful in my gardening endeavors. In addition to the Gardening for Dummies book, I also found Vegetable Gardening for Dummies, Container Gardening for Dummies, Herb Gardening for Dummies, All In One Gardening for Dummies, and Landscaping for Dummies . Whether you're a beginner gardener, an experienced gardener or a dummy gardener like me, these books can show you the way to happier and more successful gardening.
